Miss you, Dad

August 10, 2010

I have never been interested in grand birthday celebrations.  I am usually quite pleased to celebrate the day with a  strong chai from the roadside shop, a relaxed walk with srp discussing everything under the sun.  This year’s birthday is however different. It is the first time that I will not get a call from my dad and it’s not easy to suppress this missing feeling.  I wish he were alive to light up my day. There’s definitely solace in Hitchen’s quote: “To the dumb question “Why me?” the cosmos barely bothers to return the reply: Why not?”

Sitcoms

February 25, 2010

Just finished watching the last episode of the last series of Coupling. The first three series are  fantastic and the fourth series is just passable.  Between UK and US sitcoms, UK sitcoms are, hands down, the winners.

Had the pleasure of watching these sitcoms: Fawlty Towers, Yes Minister / Yes, Prime Minister, Keeping Up Appearances, Black Books, The IT Crowd

Lot more to watch in the top 100 UK sitcoms list.

This churning feeling…

February 25, 2010

A pigeon has laid eggs in a flower pot in our balcony.  No matter how hard I try to guard our balcony, the pigeon finds it’s way and is resolved to make our balcony her new home.  This has happened twice before.  The first time, Saju and I couldn’t bring ourselves to dispose the eggs watching the mama hovering around our balcony all the time. But, once the eggs hatched, our entire balcony area became a mess and it took us 2-3 days of rigorous work to clean up. The second time it happened, we tried to contain our emotions and Saju had to dispose the eggs with this horrible guilty feeling. This time around,  Saju doesn’t want to do it, he is still brooding over his act of killing a baby snake couple of days ago and doesn’t want this burden also upon him. Now, I am tasked with this gruesome act of driving the mother pigeon away and be done with those eggs. I am feeling miserable at the moment and this churning feeling is killing me.

So Nisvi it is. Saju and I have fallen in love with cute little baby of Aaditya and Vaishali. She has been one of the reasons for our numerous trips to their home last year.

Anything about work life don’t seem to affect me much now. That’s definitely a good sign :) .
